How to choose a social media scheduler
The questions that separate a tool that fits from one you abandon in a month.
By the Sosial team
Most schedulers look identical in a demo: a calendar, a composer, some charts. The differences only surface once you are using one daily.
Ask these before you commit
- Which channels do I actually use, and are all of them supported for publishing — not just for analytics?
- Does it handle the formats I post, like carousels and threads?
- What happens when a token expires? Do I find out, or does a post silently fail?
- Can a teammate draft without being able to publish?
- Is pricing per channel or flat? Per-channel pricing punishes you for using the tool properly.
The publishing question is the real one
Plenty of tools support reading analytics from a network but not publishing to it. Verify publishing per channel before you migrate anything.
Prefer flat pricing
Per-channel pricing creates a perverse incentive: the more places you post, the more the tool costs. Flat pricing lets you use it the way it was designed to be used.
Then decide on the boring things
Reliability, a clear queue, and an approval flow that takes a minute per post matter more than any feature list. If a tool does those three well, it is worth keeping.
